Christmas In Color is situated between the greater LA and San Bernardino counties. Employing a smart business strategy; Christmas In Color took over the unused Raging Waters waterpark for their Holiday drive through. Since theme parks are closed this season, it’s good to see something happening at a familiar place at least to the locals.
This was by far the lowest cost drive-through we’ve experienced. The experience was shorter than the other drive-throughs but there was a lot going on. When you enter, you tune in to a set frequency on your FM dial and watch the lights pulse to the music. You may even see Gingerbreadmen, Elves or Snowmen singing to your favorite pop holiday hits. The experience was a non-stop drive-through party with over a million twinkling LEDs and neon lights. Each light tunnel is unique and signals that a new theme is about the pop-up. However, being that it is non-stop and on-the-go did have a consequence. The line ushers wanted us to keep moving and constantly got into the shot. Therefore, be mindful when you are taking photos or videos that you may pick up unnecessary audio from someone telling you to keep moving and you may not have a lot of time to take a photo.
The overall experience was enjoyable and the perceived value is great. This could potentially be a long term play for Christmas In Color should they continue the strategy of taking over unused waterparks for the Holiday season. We would definitely like to see them again but with a potentially longer track with no verbal interruption from the line monitors. However, with a flat ticket price per vehicle that was easily 25% to 50% lower than its competitors, most people won’t complain. In the end, it definitely felt like we experienced the full spectrum of color at this event. The title is very fitting.
