Designercon 2022 - Anaheim, CA

We’re excited to bring you this review of DesignerCon 2022. Due to the lockdowns the last couple of years; we were only able to attend virtually once, and we all know that virtual meetings are not the same. The lack of being able to touch and feel, and to have an up-close-and-personal experience with the visuals or products completely detracts from the experience and doesn’t do these artists any justice.

Our first visit at DesignerCon did not disappoint. This was a blend of a collectibles show, a mini cosplay convention and an animation expo but with most of the merchandise here customized by the designers and artists. Oh and did we mention there were about a handful of designer/movie/show cars on deck as well? There were a ton of merchandise that were not exclusive where you can purchase elsewhere. However, we found that most of the merchandise and pieces sold here were exclusively available through the artist/vendor only.

If you are a hardcore collector and have a large interest in the culture; a full weekend pass is definitely recommended. Though mostly easy to get through everything; we found that ample time should be allotted if you are there to seek an autograph or to get photos from your favorite toy or collectible designer. We personally are fans of Godzilla and to see exclusive memorabilia and merch that you can’t typically buy in stores was definitely an added bonus for us.

With tons of exclusive items and photo-ops; this convention is a destination event. There was definitely enough to see there. If you get hungry; there are a good amount of food trucks just right outside the front entrance and courtyard of the Anaheim Convention Center. Also with this event being so close to the holidays; it may provide a good opportunity to give someone special a gift that you can’t buy in stores. We were able to obtain the VIP option where there were goodies inside a bag given at registration. We definitely did not leave this convention empty handed.
