Holiday In The Park returned with an all new drive-through experience. At a time when Holiday celebrations and events were disappearing, Holiday In The Park was able to adjust their operations to make it a fun-filled experience for the family. With large enough aisles and wide walking spaces throughout the park; a drive-through experience was completely doable.
Visitors enter through the main gates and eventually will get redirected to a side entrance from the parking lot. The entrance and route was exciting in the sense that it gave us access to parts of the park that were never before seen. Since it’s a drive-through, guests were unable to drive through the main entrance gates for park-goers on a normal day. However, this did not detract from the experience at all.
Each section of the park had its own unique decoration. Parts of the park were almost unrecognizable since SIX turned their attraction into a winter wonderland of sorts. In addition to the millions of twinkling lights that engulf all the trees, buildings, and some attractions; there was plenty of guest interaction and still holiday displays as well. You can more or less tell when you are entering a unique section when you notice the color scheme changing. Each zone had its own unique music, lights, interaction and one even had snowfall. Since you have to stay inside your vehicle and can’t experience it out and about; SIX made sure to cater to the audience and brought all the experiences to you. All you gotta do is sit back, enjoy, and hold your cameras up except for the driver of course; unless you have self driving capabilities in your vehicle.
What we really liked about the experience was this: not once did the staff hassle us for pausing too long for photos and short video clips. We understand that with drive-through experiences; we have to eventually keep it moving. However, other experiences we’ve driven through did not give us the same courtesy. Some of these attractions seemed to forget that at the same time, the typical walk-up experience was taken away from us this season; so we cannot take our time for photos like we normally do. We’re recording one second and the next we hear a voice that goes “keep it moving”. Therefore, we praise SIX for having line monitors waving their glow batons as opposed to interrupting your experience by yelling obvious directions at you.
Going forward, we really don’t mind partaking in another drive-through experience by Six Flags. The staff was friendly, everybody was jovial, and the energy was positive. If we cannot have the normal walk-up experience; then we’ll take this drive-through!
