The L.A. Art Show is back with fashion and flair. Back to its original time slot, this year’s program featured Kaia Gerber, Molly Sims, Stephanie Romanov, Janice Dickinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Diana Silvers, Victoria Pedretti, Josh Henderson, Cinthya Carmona, Josh Kelly, Josh Whitehouse, Reid Scott, and Lance Bass to name a few. Brought to us by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, opening night kicked off in style in a safe and socially responsible environment.
If we had to sum up 2022’s L.A. Art Show with a phrase, it would be: “Light but Bright.” Here is our take on it and why it was lighter but brighter. The L.A. Art Show is back to their usual seasonal dates, which was a plus since that is the time frame that most Art enthusiasts were used to. To the Art enthusiast, this time of year is considered “art season”. We noticed that the show was a bit dialed back in terms of the crowd and the amount of exhibitors. Whether it was pandemic fears or just lack of resources to get to L.A. to vend; it still did not take anything away from the experience. With what felt like more walkable space and less exhibitors; this allowed for the attendees to give more “TLC” to each exhibitor and vice versa.
The experience was definitely one that’s of “quality over quantity.” Attendees and guests that do not have the luxury of attending the show on multiple days can now strategically finish looking at every art piece within a few hours. We found ourselves walking slowly up and down each aisle, utilizing the full 4 hours available on opening night. We enjoyed this new format of “less is more”. This allowed us to really appreciate and spend time at each exhibitor as opposed to trying to get through everything before closing time. Also, being that it is located back at South Exhibit Hall; locals know this as the “main hall” with the grand lobby, it really restored that grand/luxury feeling with the giant escalators and stairs leading up to the exhibits.
This season’s show was environmentally focused and driven, with an Immersive Experience Presented by Museum of Nature of Cantabria, Spain, Done in Antarctica by Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego.
