Maccabees: A Drive Thru Chaukah Experience offered a drive-through experience unlike no other we’ve seen so far this season. If you’ve been to quite a few drive-through experiences at this point, you might expect a bunch of lights and a dazzling array of displays. Maccabees stands out and is distinct from that, in a good way.

In a world where live theatre has basically been eradicated for the time being, Maccabees allows for theatre fans to safely get a good 20 to 30 minute show in without having to interact with anybody. Windows must be rolled up at all times and your vehicle’s radio is synced to the appropriate frequency.

We first got led into a giant inflatable Maccabees Hanukkah candles tunnel. We followed the tunnel with Hannukah color scheme lighting until we reached a line monitor. The first stop was a photo-op done safely in our vehicle. After the photo-op, we were directed to 3 stops. Each stop is a different skit/show. Guests can expect to sit through and enjoy a live re-enactment of the Chaunka story; non-violent of course since it is family friendly and ran by the Power Of Youth group in LA. It is indeed a great way to celebrate the season safely in a controlled environment inside your vehicles.

We liked how it was an educational yet entertaining production that teaches the origins of Chanukah. For those that did not know the story of Judah Maccabeus and the Maccabees; this was a great way to learn about it in 3 different skits and scenes. With an extremely well produced soundtrack and audio; it made it feel as if you are watching a live play. Oh and when you're driving, look out for the walking Dreidel!
