As the unofficial leaders of the first Family-Friendly drive-through attraction in a pandemic year; the team behind Haunt ‘O Ween returned with their holiday program called WonderLAnd. The “LA” is capitalized since it’s a wonderland in Los Angeles County.
The reason we deem them the unofficial leaders of the Family-Friendly drive-through stems from their experience from the Halloween season. From what we recall, they were the first to advertise an interactive non-scare Halloween drive-through. Then after a wonderful experience with much earned praise; they followed up Haunt ‘O Ween with WonderLAnd.
With big named sponsors, we expected a bigger than normal experience. First off, the prop quality was professional grade which included a lot of fine detail that should be appreciated up close. Secondly, just like their Halloween drive-through, WonderLAnd also had different zones or villages with each one offering a distinct theme. Though there was no Trick ‘R Treating like Halloween; WonderLAnd did offer a small gift. They will alert you to pop your trunk prior to seeing the guest of honor for the event. On top of all the twinkling lights, grand larger than life displays, and Christmas house facades; they also have Santa’s elves roaming around all through the path. What also was interesting to us was that they had a Lunar New Year light tunnel along with a few displays paying homage to the traditional holiday. That was a nice added bonus that we did not expect. Technically; Chinese/Lunar New Year is a holiday that falls within the winter months and has been gaining popularity over the course of the last few years. With a name like “WonderLAnd”, it allowed them to stretch out their imagination to include more themes rather than just Christmas related ones.
If 2020 has you down and you need a shot of Holiday cheer; then WonderLAnd may be the place for you. WonderLAnd redefines what it means to be a Christmas/Holiday drive-through. It’s a lot more than just LED lights and twinkling light tunnels. Though located in Los Angeles County; the event takes place in the San Fernando Valley at the Westfield mall parking lot off of Topanga Canyon Blvd. This is one of the experiences where it’s worth the drive and it’ll put you into the Holiday spirit.
